College Football Week 8 Recap

As another #1 is defeated as well as a couple of other top teams, this weeks games and rankings were really exiting

Upsets:
1. Oklahoma vs 11. Missouri
19. Texas vs Iowa State
14. Oklahoma State vs 16. Nebraska
20 West Virginia vs Syracuse
23. Kansas State vs Baylor

Other Loses in top 25:
6. LSU vs 4. Auburn

Top Performances:
1. Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez: he rebounded nicely after a bad loss as he passed for 323 Yards and 5 Touchdowns  and added another 112 on the ground in a victory over undefeated Oklahoma State
2. Auburn QB Cam Newton: he passed for 86 yards but ran for 217 and 2 Touchdowns and Lead his now #1 Auburn Tigers to a victory over#6LSU
3. Oregon's Offense: Not a surpise here with the best offense in the country, but they did put up 60 again, this time against a somewhat good team in UCLA. Heisman Hopeful LaMichael James rushed for 123 Yards and 2 Touchdowns as Thomas passed for 308 and 4 Touchdowns

Top Disappointments
1. Oklahoma Sooners: If you are ranked the best team then you should not lose. No ands, buts or excuses. When you have a great defense and explosiveness from RB DeMarco Murray, the Sooners should be able to beat Missouri
2. Texas Longhorns: This team is obviously not good this year with already 3 losses and 2 back to back. The problem here starts with the quarterback as he can not replace or come close to the most efficient college quarterback ever, Colt McCoy
3. Michigan State: Yes altough they won, they got lucky in the 4th quarter and had to make a huge comeback against Northwester, Yes Northwestern who was known in the 1980's and 1990's for having one of the largets losing streaks in College Football Ever. Expect an upset against Iowa this week Spartans.

Game of the Week: Oklahoma vs Missouri: 36-27 Mizzou
Its not a surpise that the upset of the #1 team is the game of the week, but Mizzou did play great. Their quarterback Blaine Gabbert passed for a touchdown and over 300 yards while their running back ran for a touchdown and the defense stopped Landry and Murray.

Top Games for next week:
1. Oregon vs USC (upset alert)
2. Michigan State vs Iowa (upset alert)
3. Auburn vs Ole Miss
4. Mizzou vs Nebraska
5. Utah vs Air Force

Heisman Race
1. Auburn QB Cam Newton
2. Boise State QB Kellen Moore
3. Oregon RB LaMichael James
4. Stanford QB Andrew Luck
5. LSU CB/KR/PR Patrick Peterson

Wolrd Series Set!

With the Giants defeating the Phillies also in 6 games, the world series is finally set. The Texas Rangers will make their first appearance ever and the Giants will return for their 2nd in 10 Years.

The First two games will be  played in San Francisco, followed by 3 in Texas and then back in San Francisco if necessary for games 6 and 7. With Fox in an argument with Cablevision, this world series may not get the maximum views it expects.

This series is expecting great pitching duels between, the freak, Tim Linceum, and Cliff Lee in game. In game 2 hard throwing Matt Cain will face off against Texas' C.J. Wilson. Game 3 will probably be Cole Hamels vs Colby Lewis

Now the offense. For the Rangers they are led by Kinsler, Guerrero, and ALCS MVP Josh Hamilton. For the Giants they will get their runs from Pablo Sandaval, Buster Posey, and Aubrey Huff.

NBA 2010-2011 Preview

If the offseason was this exciting, just picture how exciting the season will be. Offseason moves here and there reshaped teams in the NBA forming super teams and also very bad teams. In this preview i will predict standings, MVPs, ROYs, and a NBA Champion

Eastern Conference:
1. Miami Heat
2. Boston Celtics
3. Orlando Magic
4. Chicago Bulls
5. Atlanta Hawks
6. Milwaukee Bucks
7. New York Knicks
8. Charlotte Bobcats
9. Cleveland Cavaliers
10. Philadelphia 76'ers
11. Washington Wizards
12. Detroit Pistons
13. New Jersey Nets
14. Toronto Raptors
15. Indiana Pacers

Western Conference:
1. Los Angeles Lakers
2. Oklahoma City Thunder
3. Dallas Mavericks
4. San Antonio Spurs
5. Denver Nuggets
6. Portland Trailblazers
7.  Utah Jazz
8. Phoenix Suns
9. Memphis Grizzlies
10. New Orleans Hornets
11.  Houston Rockets
12. Los Angeles Clippers
13. Sacramento Kings
14. Golden State Warriors
15. Minnesota Timberwolves

Most Valuable Players:
1. Kevin Durant: This guy will completely dominate the league this year. Now after being in the league for 3 years, Durant has matured into one of the most purest scorers in the league. Not only will he only demolish the stat sheets, but i think he can lead the Thunder deep into the postseason
2. Kobe Bryant: This shouldn't surprise anyone. Kobe is arguably the best player of the decade/century/ u name it. He is on his way to lead the Lakers to a 3-Peat. With the formation of the Heat, i believe this will just make Kobe want to play harder to prove that his Lakers can compete with the Super Team.
3. LeBron James: Although he is playing on the Heat with 3 other all-stars, it would be wrong not to mention the king in MVP discussions. He has won this prestigious award the last two years with enormous stats, but those numbers will decrease this year when he plays along side Wade and Bosh. Still don't doubt LeBron because he will still lead the Heat in scoring.

Rookie of the Year:
1. John Wall: He was picked #1 for a reason right? Wall will be playing on a pretty good Wizards team, for a team who did have the 1st pick. With Arenas, Hinrich, Blatche, and others Wall will be able to throw dimes as well as make baskets and win himself the Rookie of the Year.
2. Derrick Favors: Favors will do the Nets many favors this season whether it be Offense or Defense. Favors can easily provide the Nets with 13 and 10 and on defense average a block and steal per game. Don't be surprised if Derrick Favors steals the ROY because he is a freak of an athlete
3. Paul George: Here is my dark horse. George was drafted 10th by the Pacers out of Fresno State. Since he is playing for the Pacers, who i believe is the worst team in the East, someone has to score so why not break in the rookie. Newly acquired Point Guard Darren Collison will look to hook up George with many open shots and dunks this season so watch out for George

Championship:
I believe the Lakers will once again win the NBA Championship and this time defeat a 3rd different team, the Miami Heat. It will be hysterical to watch LeBron cry and Cavs fans to laugh when King James and company disappoint the world and do not win the Championship. The Lakers are just too experienced when it comes to this stuff. They did not lose anybody and gained veteran point guard Steve Blake, to help out Derek Fisher. I Predict the Lakers to win in 6 and have Kobe Bryant win the Finals MVP

Rangers make it to First World Series

On Friday, the Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees in 6 games to advance to their first world series ever. The Series MVP went to Josh Hamilton who has been nothing but amazing this whole season long. He might win the regular season MVP as well. The main reason the Rangers defeated the Yankees was due to the bad offensive production by the Yankees or the great pitching by the Rangers. With the exception of Robinson Cano who set records in the ALCS with home runs by a second basemen and just played his heart out, the Yankees could not do anything with the bats. Arod was typical, Teixiera was hitless and did not play do to injury in game 6, and Jeter and the rest were just un-clutch. Besides when they won and put up 7 and 6 runs the Yankees failed to score at least 4 runs scoring 3,2,1, and 0 in their losses. The Rangers await the winner of the NLCS; The Giants and the Phillies. Currently the Giants lead the Phillies 3-2 in the series and game going on right now.

College Basketball Preview

The NCAA Basketball preseason rankings came out today with the top five teams being the current national champions, the Duke Blue Devils #1, the Michigan State Spartans at #2, The Kansas State Wildcats at #3, Pitt at $4, and the Ohio State Buckeyes at #5.

The rest of the top ten is filled out by Villanova, Kansas, Purdue, North Carolina and Kentucky

No Surprise the Blue Devils are #1 in the preseason polls. They only lost 3 players in John Scheyer, Brian Zoubek, and Lance Thomas. To make up for that though they got a top five recruit in Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry's brother Seth Curry who transfered from Liberty last year and had to redshirt. The Devils still have the Plumlee brothers, Nolan Smith, and Kyle Singler. And don't forget, the Duke Blue Devils have arguably the best coach in College Basketball, Mastermind Coach K.

As for the Spartans, they have most of their team back, with key veterans like Kalin Lucas, Delvin Roe, Durrell Summers and Korie Lucious. Of Course coach Izzo will not let this team disappoint as they have had the most Final Four Appearances this Century

For the Wildcats, they will will lead the Big 12 this season. Their star player Jacob Pullen who averaged near 20 points today, and his wingman Dennis Clemente. Their coach Frank Martin. who is known for his toughness will really make a push for the Cats as serious contenders this year

Diaper Dandies:

1. Jared Sullinger, Ohio State Forward- This guy is just a freak of an athlete. Nicknamed Sully, Jared has been on the Mens under 18 basketball team for a year and is just outstanding. Standing at 6'9 he has the height to post a big man down low but the athleticism to burn any guard. Watch out for Jared Sullinger and Ohio State
2. Harrison Barnes, North Carolina Small Forward, Barnes will likely be a typical top recruit under Roy Williams, which is an amazing athlete with raw basketball talent. Barnes is the versatile athlete who can do it all with the shooting, driving, passing, and defense. You will be hearing Dicky V shout this guys name all season long
3. Kyrie Irving, Point Guard Duke- He plays for the current champions, his coach is Coach K, he is on the most talented team in the NCAA. There is no way this guy could be bad and i think he could be just as good as the other 2 players i mentioned. Kyrie is a quick player who i would compare most to Chris Paul, yes he can throw dimes like Paul but he has that extra talent to score and get his team points in other ways

The Maui classic, Coaches for Cancer, and Preseason NIT will be starting up soon and will give everyone a real chance at seeing how talented these Student Athletes are

College Football Week 7 Recap

This week's games were very exciting with another upset of the #1 team in the country.

Upsets:
1. Ohio state vs 18. Wisconsin

10. South Carolina vs Kentucky
19. Nevada vs Hawaii
22. Florida vs Miss. State
23. Air Force  vs San Diego State
24. Oregon State vs Washington

All other top 25 teams won

Top Performances:

1. Wisconsin Badgers- Obviously knocking off the top team in the country is a huge performance. The Run game was as usual where Clay and White combined for 179 Yards and 3 Tds. The Defense also held its own by giving up only 10 points until the 4th quarter and ended with only 18
2. Auburn QB Cameron Newton- Passed for 140 yards and a Td and Ran for 188 Yards and 3 Tds as he leads his undefeated Tigers passed Arkansas
2. Oklahoma Sooners- Shocker, the Sooners blow out another game and Running back DeMarco Murray puts on another display. This team obviously impressed many as they jumped Oregon Boise State and TCU to top the BCS Rankings

Top Disappointments:

1. Ohio State Buckeyes- The Buckeyes lost after become the #1 team a week earlier. They really showed their vulnerability and their defense did not show up. Pryor failed to impress and is really hurting his Heisman and Season Campaign
2. Nebraska Cornhuskers- Their Undefeated season came to an end when they lost to unranked Texas. They let the Texas defense shut down the Cornhuskers and Quarterback Taylor Martinez was subpar for the first time this season he was under 100 yards passing and rushing combined and did not even score 1 Td, Finally make room for Kellen Moore, who was my preseason Heisman Winner
3. Florida Gators- Lets make this one simple, They just suck

Top Game:
1. Ohio State vs 18. Wisconsin

Everyone knew this was going to be the top game of the week and it did not disappoint. College game-day came to Madison and Corso dressed up as a badger and they did not let him down. Carolina Blues

The Future?

My Good Friend Jared Weiss, has wrote a post about his Favorite NFL team, the Struggling Panthers and Analyzes what's wrong, why its wrong, and how it can be better in this exciting post:

The Carolina Panthers are officially the worst team in football. I am sorry to say it, but it's true. First, lets look at the few bright spots from this season. 40 year old kicker John Kasay has been playing well, with multiple kicks of over 50 yards and he is yet to miss. 6th round pick David Gettis has been playing much better then expected. It will be a little bit easier to say something good about their defense. OLB James Anderson is leading the league in tackles, and he also has 1.5 sacks, many TFL's a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and even a pick. S Charles Godfrey is leading the NFL in interceptions with four, and the panthers pass defense is top five in the league. Too bad that might be because opponents don't need to pass in the second half.
In this past off-season, Fox made some bold moves in letting go of formers stars and leaders like Julius Peppers, Jake Delhomme, Brad Hoover, and many others. The Panthers now are the youngest team in the NFL, with the only players over 30 being their kicker and punter (John Kasay and Jason Baker), and star WR Steve Smith. Now, with injuries to key players like Tackle Jeff Otah and the aforementioned WR Steve Smith, the Panthers are missing much of their offense. With these injuries, much pressure was placed on quarterback Matt Moore, who was not able to handle it. After he failed, much pressure was placed on rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who need more time to develop before he can make an impact on the NFL.

The Panthers are getting close to rock bottom, and they need to figure out what to do next. For one, they should wait until the end of the season to figure out who their next head coach will be. After a bad experience with a coach who had been out of the league for a while, in George Seifert, they will want to go after a coordinator like Brian Schottenheimer from the Jets.
After that, they need to make a good decision in the draft. With a likely top five pick, this is a very crucial pick to get right. My advice would be for them to go after star Georgia WR A.J. Green. Green reminds me of a young Andre Johnson, and the WR-weak Panthers can not pass up on an opportunity for a star like Green. Even with many great quarterbacks available like Andrew Luck and Ryan Mallett, they should still give Clausen a chance, as he was such a highly touted prospect for a reason.

Finally, they need to figure out what to do in free agency. I can not stress this enough, there is NOT a savior out them. It will be a long time until they get back into contention, and there is no point in going after a star who they will pay top dollar to, who would not be able to make a big impact on the franchise as a whole. It is going to be a long road back to the top for the Panthers, and they just need to take things one step at a time, so they don't end up being screwed for eternity, like the Oakland Raiders.

This week was one of the best weeks yet with a huge upsets and many surprises. For the first time this season the 1. Ranked team has been dethroned As The South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in a crucial game in South Carolina

Every team in the top 25 Won Except:
1. Alabama to 19. South Carolina
9. Arizona to Unranked Oregon State (Called that one!)
13. Miami to 23. Florida State (Predicted this as well)
14. Florida to 12. LSU
18. Michigan to 17. Michigan State

Top 3 Performances:
1. Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez: We might have a newer version of Denard Robinson and a new Heisman Candidate with this guy. He passed for 128 yards and a Touchdown  more importantly ran for 241 yards and 4 Touchdowns to lead the Cornhuskers to another win
2. Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden: He passed for 351 Yards and 5 Touchdowns in a wipeout over Lousiana-Lafayette 54-28
3. Wisconsin Running Backs John Clay and James White: The running backs combined for over 225 Yards and 5 Touchdowns in a Win against Rival Minnesota 41-23

Top Disappointments:
1. Michigan QB Denard Robinson: In his first test against a actually good team, Robinson struggled throwing 3 interceptions and only 1 Touchdown against 17. Michigan State
2. The Alabama Crimson Tide: Their undefeated streak of 19 games and  #1 ranking came to an end this weekend with a loss to 19. South Carolina Gamecocks
3. Florida QB John Brantley: Im sorry Florida Gators fan because you guys do not have a collegiate level Quarterback playing for your top ranked team. Brantley continues to struggle week in week out, and this week lead the team to another loss passing for only 154 Yards and no touchdowns. He also threw an interception

Game of the Week:
There were many exciting games like Michigan vs Michigan State, LSU vs Florida, Stanford vs USC, Oregon State vs Arizona, and Auburn vs Kentucky, but this weeks Game of the Week goes to Alabama vs South Carolina.
In the game this week, the Gamecocks lead by Quarterback Stephen Garcia defeated the Crimson Tide 35-21 in Columbia. The main reason i believe the Crimson Tide lost was because the Gamecocks did a great job of pressuring QB Greg McElroy and stopping the powerful duel threat run game of Trent Richardson and Heisman Winner Mark Ingram. The two combined for only 63 Rush Yards. For the other team Garcia passed for 300 Yards and 3 Touchdowns and Running-back Marcus Lattimore ran for 93 Yards and 3 Touchdowns.

Top games for next week:
1. 1. Ohio State vs 18. Wisconsin: Watch out for an upset in Madison Folks because James White and John Clay are gonna run over and upset the new #1 Ohio State
2. 7. Auburn vs 12. Arkansas- The Razorbacks came close to a big upset 2 weeks ago, will Mallet lead them to a victory over undefeated Auburn
3. 15. Iowa vs Michigan: Can the Wolverines come back after a tough loss and knock off the Hawkeyes?

Phillies and Giants Advance

Today the Giants finally knocked off the Braves 3-1 in the series. They won the advancing game tonight 3-2. Earlier in the week the Phillies swept the Reds 3-0 after aces Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt all won their matches. Now the Phillies and the Giants will play each other in the NLCS in a best of 7 series. In game one the likely starters will the past Cy Young Winners
Tim "the freak" Lincecum and Roy "Doc" Halladay. As i predicted in a earlier post i have the Phillies in a 4 game sweep do to their unfair pitching rotation and clutch hitters like Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Shane Victorino, and vet, Jimmy Rollins.

Yanks Clinch

Tonight they Yankees swept the Twins 3-0 in the ALDS. they won the first two games in Minnesota, 6-4 and 5-2 with CC Sabathia and Andy Petitte getting the wins. Tonight's game was in the Bronx and Phil Hughes was on the mound. He pitched 7 scoreless innings and the Bombers won 6-1. Posada opened up the lead with a single scoring Cano. After Mark Texiera hit a single and scored Nick Swisher, Marcus Thames opened up the game with a 2-Run Homerun. The Yanks got their final 2 runs from a Brett Gardner sac fly and a Nick Swisher Solo shot. The Twins would end up scoring late with a Orlando Hudson single but that wasnt enough and the Yanks will go onto the ALCS. The Yankees have won the last 9 postseason games vs the twins sweeping them 3 times. The Pinstripes will now play the winner of the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays. The Rangers lead the series 2-1

Alabama Upset

Today South Carolina upset #1 Alabama and snapped their 19 game win streak. The game was at South Carolina which played a major role in the game. The Gamecocks got up to an early 21-3 lead and ended up winning it 35-21. Quarterback and Senior leader Stephen Garcia lead the team with 3 touchdowns. The #19 Gamecocks will likely move up to even the top 10 with this big victory. The new #1 will be the assumed Ohio State Buckeyes. Next week they play Wisconsin in Madison and who knows, another #1 team might lose back to back weeks. Watch Out Buckeyes

Stanley Cup Predictions

Penguins Defeat Redwings in 6

Top Rookies:

1. P.K. Subban: No not Seguin or Hall, but non other than P.K. Subban. For many of you guys who watch NHL often you might have noticed him get called up in the post season for the habs. He is a quick young defenseman who gets the job end on that side but also loves to sneak up to the other side of the rink and snipe shots from the Blue Line. Watch out for P.K.
2. Tyler Seguin- Yes, although he was taken behind Taylor Hall he was ranked above him in all the mock drafts. I Believe he is the best Offensive Rookie ahead of hall for his raw ability to score and make the extra pass. Just another stupid Executive Decision by the Oilers
3. Taylor Hall- He was the #1 pick in the draft so he must be good right? Yes, Hall will be sure to get some points for Edmonton this year getting paired up with breakout Dustin Penner and Ales Hemsky who is back from Injury

Top Breakthrough Players
1. Brandon Dubinsky- He has been a solid player for the rangers, but this year i think he can really step it up a notch and become a close to elite player
2. Jussi Jokenin- He ended last season on a streak and will look to pick it up this season, and help Staal, the Hurricanes and company try to make the playoffs this year. Wathout for a 65+ point season
3. Jonathon Toews- the current Stanley Cup MVP will continue to shine and might pass Kane as the leading point scorer in Chi-City this year

By the Way: The NHL Season kicks off today with a few games over seas in Europe
The First game was Carolina vs Minnesota and The Canes took it 4-3

Mlb Postseason and Roy Halladay

Breaking News: Phillies Pitcher Roy Halladay just threw a no-hitter in the 1st playoff game for the Phillies in 2010. This is his 2nd of the season and 2nd all time in post season play
In other post season news here are the games and the predictions
ALDS: current matchups (and predictions)

Rangers vs Ray: Rays  in 5
Yankees vs Twins: Yanks in 4
Phillies vs Reds: Phillies in 4
Giants vs Braves: Giants in 5

ALCS (predictions)

Yankees vs Rays: Yankees in 6
Phillies vs Giants: Phillies in 4

World Series

Yankees vs Phillies: rematch of last year, my Yankees in 7; Repeat Baby!

Randy Moss

Today Randy Moss was traded to the Vikings for a 3rd round draft Pick. This trade is significant because The Vikings are struggling at the WR spot with Sydney Rice out and Moss was struggling in New England in his final year in his contract. Moss is a 7 Time Pro Bowler, NFL Rookie of the Year, named to the All Decade Team, and has the 2nd most all time receiving touchdowns behind Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. This is Moss's 2nd stint with the Vikings but a new quarterback in Brett Favre Awaits him. Time will let us know of this is a good fit in Minneapolis.

3. Denard Robinson- Shocker, he shows up again. In this game he threw for 277 and ran for 217 with a total of 5 Tochdowns. What does H-E-I-S-M-A-N spell?

Top 3 Disappointments
1. Florida, Wisconsin, and Stanford- All these top 10 teams all lost on saturday showing they may not be able to compete with the big boys
2. Michigan's Defense- Their offense is incredible but they are averaging over 32 Points against every game and haven't even faced a ranked team yet. This week they gave up 35 and almost lost to Indiana.
3. The Rankings- Something is clearly wrong with the AP if Boise drops to 4th after a 59-0 blowout and 2 victories over ranked teams, also dropping Wisconsin 10 spots with only a 10 point loss. Ridiculous

Game of the Week:
Michigan Wolverines vs Indiana: In the game last saturday both teams' offense were amazing and the quarterback battle was fun to watch. The defenses struggled and it came to the last minute for 19. Michigan to pull off what should have been an easy victory.

4. 13. Miami vs 23. Florida State- The battle of Florida: Can Florida State knock out The U, something they have not been able to do in a while?
5. 18. Michigan State vs 19 Michigan- The battle of Michigan- Will the fast and fascinating Wolverines knock off the Surprising Spartans or will the Spartans shock another ranked team
